The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD), as the Responsible Government Unit (RGU) under the Minnesota Environmental Review Program, is responsible for making the determination for the need of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the construction or cumulative expansion of multiple dock projects that total 20,000 square feet of water surface area for the dock and maneuvering space.
The LMCD received a new multiple dock license application for 5th Street Ventures, LLC, located at 4681 Shoreline Drive in Spring Park, MN (within Seton Lake of Lake Minnetonka). The proposed application required a mandatory Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) to be prepared. The representative of 5th Street Ventures, LLC proposes to maintain the existing dock with 13 Boat Storage Units (BSUs) and to add an additional 28 BSU’s (providing for a total of 41). The site has 1,421 feet of 929.4′ of continuous shoreline. The application will be reviewed under LMCD Code Section 2.03, “Multiple Docks, Mooring Areas, Commercial Docks, and Launching” taking into consideration Ordinance 217 for Qualified Commercial Marinas.
The mandatory EAW (within) was distributed to the required agencies on August 15, 2016. Additionally, the EAW is scheduled to be published in the August 22nd edition of the Environmental Quality Board (EQB) Monitor and a press release was submitted to the Lakeshore Weekly News. The LMCD is soliciting public comments on this matter through September 21st. Comments can be sent to the LMCD office at 5341 Maywood Road, Suite 200, Mound, MN 55364 or by email at email@example.com. Questions can also be directed to the LMCD staff at 952-745-0789.Posted on: August 15th, 2016
