The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) launched its Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM) harvesting equipment on Thursday, June 7th for the 2012 EWM Harvesting Program. The harvesting season is planned from mid June through mid August. The program will operate 10-hour days; Monday through Thursday. Since the inception of the LMCD’s Harvesting Program in 1989, the primary objective has been to address impediment to public navigation caused by EWM. The LMCD does not: 1) harvest EWM within a property owners dock use area, and 2) harvest EWM outside a property owners dock use area that is not causing an impediment to navigation, but may not be aesthetically pleasing.
Harvesting is planned for the following bays during the week of June 11th– 15th
The LMCD will be providing weekly updates relating to the 2012 EWM Harvesting Program. Future weekly updates will include: 1) a summary of bays harvested for the preceding week, and 2) bays to be harvested in the upcoming week. These weekly updates are the LMCD’s best estimate and we may deviate from these harvesting plans on short notice. You are encouraged to monitor these weekly updates during the 2012 season. Please contact the LMCD if you have any questions or concerns.Posted on: June 8th, 2012
