LMCD Will Monitor Water Level Readings

When Lake levels fall below 928.0 feet, the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) Code (Section 2.01, subd. 2) states that the Board of Directors may approve a resolution declaring “Low Water Conditions.”  This declaration process provides for Lake Minnetonka licensed multiple/commercial and unlicensed residential dock site owners to lawfully extend their dock(s) through November 15th of that year.

The LMCD declared “Low Water Conditions” from April 12th to June 15th of 2012.  Dock extensions installed relative to that declaration were to be removed by last November.  The LMCD will continue to monitor water level readings this year, which is provided by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District.  However, until such time another “Low Water Conditions” declaration may be considered, all docks installed on Lake Minnetonka are subject to the rules and regulations under normal water level conditions.

The adopted ordinance, outlining the process involved to lawfully extend a dock once a declaration is made, is provided herein.  For further information or to answer any of your questions, please feel free to contact Executive Director Greg Nybeck at 952-745-0789 or gnybeck@lmcd.org.
