The start of the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) 2013 EWM Harvesting Program had been postponed due to the lack of EWM growth on Lake Minnetonka. The program began harvesting on June 26th in Crystal Bay. The harvesting season is planned from mid June through mid August. The program operates 10-hour days; Monday through Thursday. There has been a deviation from the South Upper Lake Option that was planned for 2013 due to the lack of EWM growth.
Since the inception of the LMCD’s Harvesting Program in 1989, the primary objective has been to address impediment to public navigation caused by EWM. The LMCD does not: 1) harvest EWM within a property owners dock use area, and 2) harvest EWM outside a property owners dock use area that is not causing an impediment to navigation, but may not be aesthetically pleasing.
