EWM Harvesting Program Update (8/3/15 – 8/13/15)

The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) has begun the 2015 EWM Harvesting Program.  The harvesting season is planned from mid June through mid August.  The program operates 10-hour days; Monday through Thursday.

Since the inception of the LMCD’s Harvesting Program in 1989, the primary objective has been to address impediment to public navigation caused by EWM.  The LMCD does not: 1) harvest EWM within a property owners dock use area, and 2) harvest EWM outside a property owners dock use area that is not causing an impediment to navigation, but may not be aesthetically pleasing.

Harvesting was conducted in the following bays during the week of August 3rd:

  • Harrisons Bay
  • Black, Emerald, and Seton Lakes
  • Cooks Bay
  • West Upper Lake

Harvesting is planned for the following bays during the week of August 10th:

  • South Upper Lake
  • Smithtown Bay
  • South Upper Lake
  • Phelps Bay
  • Spring Park Bay
  • Carman Bay

These weekly updates are the LMCD’s best estimate and we may deviate from these harvesting plans on short notice. You are encouraged to monitor these weekly updates during the 2015 season.  Please contact the LMCD if you have any questions or concerns.
