Unsafe Ice Conditions Due to Spring Weather

Beware of Thin Ice! With spring weather, the ice on Lake Minnetonka is thinning especially near shore, in channels, pressure ridges, and some unanticipated areas. After March 15th, fences and signs are not required where de-icing units (bubblers) are used to keep the water open around docks in order to prevent damage from ice.

Take extra care to determine ice conditions or stay off the ice. Be sure to watch children and pets.  In case of emergencies, call 911 to have the experts conduct any ice rescues. If you have questions, please contact the LMCD.  Have a safe Spring!
