A zebra mussel control research project is planned for St. Albans Bay (treated area) and Robinson Bay (control area) this summer 2019. Non-native zebra mussels are a high-impact nuisance that negatively impact the ecology of the lake. The purpose of this research project is to evaluate the use of low-dose EarthTec QZ® (copper) treatments to manage zebra mussel populations by suppressing their early life stages. The project will be led by the USGS in coordination with MAISRC. Project activities will begin in early May and will be completed in October. During this project, some temporary, lighted buoys will be installed at the zebra mussel sampling locations.
An Informational Meeting will be held on April 23, 2019 at 6:00pm at Deephaven City Hall, 20225 Cottagewood Road, Deephaven MN. For more information, view the Project Information Sheet.Posted on: April 18th, 2019
