Minnesota DNR Ice Thickness Minimum Guidelines

With warmer than average temperatures this January, people should be extra careful when going onto the ice. Ice depths on Lake Minnetonka are reported from zero (open water) to 17 inches. In addition to temperatures, snow cover, water flow, springs, and white ice all impact ice thickness and safety. More information about ice safety, can be found at the MN DNR website.
