LMCD 2020 Pay Equity Report

Pursuant to the Local Government Pay Equity Act, the LMCD is required to submit a Pay Equity Report (report) every three years to the State of Minnesota (State).  This report is a method of eliminating discrimination against women who are paid less than men for jobs requiring comparable levels of expertise.

The previous Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) Pay Equity Reports were approved by the Board and submitted to the State in 2014 and 2017. Both reports indicated compliance with the Act.  The 2020 report, provided within, was approved by the LMCD Board of Directors at their February 12th Regular Board meeting and submitted to the State on February 14th.  The status of the report is considered “Submitted” until the State assesses the report and provides their findings within 90 days.

Background information on the Pay Equity Act is provided below for your reference.  Should you have any questions, please contact LMCD Executive Director Vickie Schleuning at 952-745-0789 or vschleuning@lmcd.org.

Background Information Relative to the Pay Equity Report

The Local Government Pay Equity Act (Act), M.S. 471.991-471.999 and Minnesota Rules Chapter 3920 require local government jurisdictions to submit a Pay Equity Report to the State of Minnesota every three years.

What does Pay Equity mean?  “Pay Equity is a method of eliminating discrimination against women who are paid less than men for jobs requiring comparable levels of expertise. This goes beyond the familiar idea of equal pay for equal work where men and women with the same jobs must be paid equally. A policy to establish pay equity usually means: 1) that all jobs will be evaluated and given points according to the level of knowledge and responsibility required to do the job; and 2) that salary adjustments will be made if it is discovered that women are consistently paid less then men for jobs with similar points.” 1 https://mn.gov/mmb/employee-relations/compensation/laws/local-gov/local-gov-pay-equity/
