VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: INTERN

The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District is looking to hire a Volunteer Intern for the Summer of 2024!

The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) brings together fourteen different cities, two counties, and many state and local agencies to protect, preserve and enhance Lake Minnetonka’s environment, economy, and vitality. We are a uniform, coordinating body that cares for and regulates one of Minnesota’s most important resources. Lake Minnetonka is a unique asset requiring unique governance. By working collaboratively across all jurisdictions, we ensure that we represent the many stakeholders who care about our enjoyment of the lake today while preserving it for many generations to come. This position will perform a variety of administrative, technical, and clerical tasks that support the Manager of Code Enforcement and Executive Assistant in their day-to-day responsibilities. Duties of the position include:

  • Assist with code enforcement and environmental services,
  • Manage special projects, public contact, office work flow;
  • Assist with board/work session agenda preparation;
  • Conduct fieldwork as directed, including maintaining launch sites;
  • Become familiar with the function of the Water Patrol;
  • Maintain “user guide”, phone coverage, voicemail.
  • Assist with other functions of office management.

Minimum Requirements include: Currently a student in 11th or 12th grade in 2024. Interest in public administration, environmental policy, ecology, environmental conservation, or city/government/agency work.

This is a volunteer position that will work 10-15 hours per week.
